SPICY SECRETS
4 cups water
1 cup sugar
6 cardamon pods
1 vanilla bean, split
1 cinnamon stick
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
6 pears, peeled and cored
Put first 6 ingredients into a saucepan, and bring to a boil.
Add pears and cover
Reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes, until tender. Then remove from heat and cool for 1 hour.
Remove pears from syrup. Plate and serve with whipped cream, ice cream or top with brown sugar and grill until the sugar melts and caramelizes.
